Art for Healing Spaces

Funding will support the artist in producing a new photography series in collaboration with community gardens and healing spaces in the artist’s community -  Arrowhead Regional Art Council

This grant proposal outlines a project to create large-scale nature photographs for healing spaces in Carlton County, Minnesota. With a background in educational justice and a newfound passion for nature photography, the artist aims to use macro photography to evoke feelings of hope, healing, and renewal, with a particular focus on the connection between nature and mental health.

The project, scheduled to begin in mid-June 2025, involves collaboration with Carlton County Master Gardeners to photograph local community gardens throughout the summer. The goal is to produce 15 high-quality, 16x20 photographs within six months, with exhibitions planned from January to June 2026 in hospitals, clinics, and community gathering spaces.

Art Project Grant for Individuals (Legacy Fund) – Individual Artist Project Grant is made possible in part by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
